There is quite a bit on www.dashcamtalk.com actually. They choose it as the best buy for the buck. I am thinking about getting one as the build quality on my GS8000 suck ass.

That's an awesome picture.

That's where I found it. I'm about to order one based solely on their recommendation, but I figured anyone who had personal experience with it might be able to help more.

Overall a good dash cam. Some people may find it too large, the sucessor to the g1 is the A118 I believe, similar video quality but is in a much less obvious body.
I personally have a GT680w, I bought a couple of gw1hc's for my friends and they've hadn't had any problems with it.

I own one. Technically two, 1 for each vehicle. But whatcha want to know?
Records up to 1080p. The audio isn't so great but I don't need it recording shitty music or even shittier phone calls. Decent little screen on it. It feels a bit on the cheeper side but for <$50 what do you expect? The mount is a bitch if you lock the camera into it all the way. Half in is snug enough to hold it still. Anti shake works great too btw. It is tiny however which for me I think is good.
hope this works for size reference. *note the shitty BlackBerry is for work.

Thanks! Is it relatively discrete, and how does the motion sensor/shock detector work?

shock I haven't used by the g sensor is great as it starts recording right when you start moving. I don't remember if it stops at lights though or has a run over time. I turned mine off so it always runs - watches me as I work on a site

Love mine, I suggest an add a fuse to hard wire it.
